In recent years, the airline industry has talked a lot about NDC.
– I think many people in the business have talked about new forms of distribution without really understanding what this is or means, says Petter Brodahl, director and partner in Berg-Hansen.
Berg-Hansen worked intensively with NDC over the past year and is now close to their first pilot.
– We have always been in the forefront of new digital solutions that are smart for travelers – and in many areas we have been first in the world. One example is the ability to change the flight tickets in the app right up to departure.
Airline companies want control of their own customers and their own sales. Therefore, several airlines have announced in recent years that they are working with NDC and have selected prices and products from the so-called GDSs (Amadeus and Sabre). From New Year, Lufthansa is first in Norway to remove the cheapest tickets from GDS.
– We are ready to receive more partners and look forward to seeing what new values we can create for our customers in the future. We have been a player who has offered what the airlines, hotels and car rental companies have put into GDS. With changes in distribution channels, it offers opportunities to become more proactive and negotiate own prices, as well as market prices. That’s what we want to do in an even greater extent, Brodahl concludes.
